A man has told Los Angeles TV station KTVU that he is the father of the young man whose body is visible in a crime scene image on Google maps, and has used a TV appearance to call for Google to remove the image of the body, which he says is that of his then 14-year-old son.

Barrera's interview on KTVU

Jose Barrera’s son Kevin was murdered in 2009.

“When I see this image, that's still like that happened yesterday, and that brings me back to a lot of memories,” he told the station.

The image was circulated widely when it came to light last week.

Barerra said he intended to lodge a complaint to Google.

The Smoking Gun website reported that Kevin Barrara’s body was found at the site of the image shown on Google, following his murder in 2009.

Google has yet to respond publicly.
