Twitter has rolled out a new Custom Timelines feature, giving users “more control” and allowing them to curate and organise tweets on the platform.

Similar to Storify, users can create timelines around specific events via Tweetdeck, and fill it with tweets around certain topics or users.

The custom timelines are public and fully embeddable, with their own twitter.com page, meaning users can embed the timelines in their websites. Twitter suggested, for example, that The Guardian might host a Q&A using it.

"Whether you want to collect the best Tweets about a TV show or help people find the latest information about fast-moving real-time situations, custom timelines let you give everyone a place to follow along," said Brian Ellin, product manager for the Twitter platform, in a blog post.

It is being trialled with selected users with a full roll out expected in the coming days.
