Payday loan firms have been found to be the most disliked companies in the UK, followed by cigarette and energy brands, according to a populous poll conducted over the weekend.

The poll of 2,056 people, which scored positive ratings towards companies, saw energy companies receive a positive rating of 28.2 out of 100, while tobacco companies scored 25.6 per cent and payday loan firms were the lowest with 15.7 per cent.

The poll was revealed by The Telegraph this morning ahead of ‘The Big Six’ energy firms facing questioning from a Select Committee of MPs over price hikes and whether rising wholesale costs are really behind them as claimed.

It was also revealed by the poll that supermarkets were viewed as being the most positive companies, scoring 58.5.
