Rumours are rife ahead of tonight’s iPad announcement by Apple. Here, we take a look at some of the predictions, including the iPad 5, the iPad Mini 2 and MacBook Pro.

iPad 5

It is heavily predicted that the iPad 5 will be launched this evening. It has been suggested that this could be up to 20 per cent slimmer than the iPad 4, and the jury is out on whether this new model will feature Touch ID.

It is believed that the new iPad might include a new A7X chip, using the same technology as the iPhone 5s, to help boost processing power.

Predictions also include narrower bezels to bring the design in line with Apple’s iPad Mini.

iPad Mini 2

Rumours of a second generation iPad Mini are also being discussed, with retina display being the real talking point.

The retina display was launched on the 13-inch MacBook Pro laptop by Apple almost exactly a year ago.

The iPad Mini is said to have a pixel density of 324 ppi, and Touch ID seems to be only a dream for this product.

MacBook Pro and Mac Pro

It seems increasingly likely that an update to the MacBook Pro will be announced tonight, with improved performance and battery life expected. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested that changes could also include upgrading the FaceTime camera to 1080p quality.

The tube-shaped Mac Pro and the OS X Mavericks have also caused some speculation: they were announced earlier this year but release dates were not provided.
