BBC business editor Robert Peston to become economics editor
BBC business editor Robert Peston is moving to the role of economics editor within the corporation.
Peston revealed the move in a tweet this evening, and will replace Stephanie Flanders who is set to join the bank JP Morgan.
Jon Zilkha, head of the BBC's business and economics unit, said Peston had the "ideal combination of economic and financial expertise, political insight and broadcasting flair to give our audiences and programmes the best service in the years ahead".
The BBC has confirmed that he will depart the role after eight years with a successor not yet thought to be in place.
