The Weather Company has announced the launch of a new digital video site, Weather Films.

The new series of productions will focus on climate change and conservation issues and include stories from those who have been directly affected by extreme weather conditions.

The films will be available on smartphones and tablets, and will be distributed partly through the Weather Company's range of apps.

Patrick Vogt, president of The Weather Company International, said, “Science and great story-telling make up our core at The Weather Company. Combined with the fantastic industry growth trend of video and the evolution of consumer viewing behaviour, this has resulted in the creation of Weather Films. Weather Films is a prime example of rich content in a more engaging and immediate medium and a brilliant portrayal of our interaction with the forces of weather and the environment.”

As well as being available on mobile devices, Weather films will be viewable on Telegraph TV and distributed internationally by Unruly Media in a variety of languages.
