Missouri Creative, a new retail and brand design agency officially opens for business this month, with Waitrose, HTC and Paddy Power among its first clients.

Stuart Wood and Paul Brennan, both former executive creative directors at Fitch London, have teamed up to launch the new agency, which has already attracted investment from integrated marketing group, Communicator.

Missouri aims to help brands engage in more meaningful customer experiences by offering expertise in retail and brand design, covering retail environments, brand communications, brand creation and visual identity.

Where appropriate, the agency will also help its clients make more effective use of multisensory technologies to create more integrated, interactive and measurable retail experiences.

Paul Brennan, creative partner, Missouri Creative, said: “In essence, we see ourselves as architects of emotive experiences.

“We help bring brands to life through authentic brand storytelling and rich physical experiences, ensuring that every minute that customers spend in store is of maximum value to brands and retailers.”

Missouri’s design studio is based in the Tea Building in Shoreditch, London, alongside its new marketing partners, Communicator. Missouri’s retail and brand design skills will complement Communicator Group’s core skills in direct, digital, PR, social, events and experiential marketing for brands such as Nike, Colgate and Jack Daniel’s.

Stuart Wood, creative partner, Missouri Creative, said: “Technology is revolutionising retail, and brands need to think and act in fresh new ways to engage today’s shoppers. Modern retail design is no longer just about the physical environment – it’s about understanding the whole omni-channel consumer journey leading up to and surrounding those tangible ‘moments of proof’ in store.

“We’re here to help retail brands navigate those journeys, and understand how to fill every element of the ‘experience gap’ between brand promise and brand experience.”

Missouri is working on a new ‘store of the future’ concept for high street and online bookmaker Paddy Power; helping Waitrose think about a new brand experience narrative for its retail environments; and exploring new pop up retail concepts for HTC.
