Asda, which started an advertising review in June, is understood to have narrowed its pitch down to JWT London and VCCP: meaning that incumbent Saatchi & Saatchi will not win the £100m account.

Saatchi & Saatchi has held the account for over a decade, and created last year’s Christmas advert, which led to over 600 complaints to the ASA.

The pitch began following the appointment of Chris McDonough as marketing director.

The Drum is awaiting a comment from Asda.

Perhaps last year's Xmas ad was the last straw in a struggling business releationship?

I happen to agree with the complaints about the sexist advert.

S & S were also responsible for another mildly sexist ad for a broadband comparison company, that saw a woman in a pub who was apparently dumbfounded by her blokes ability to change broadband providers - A write up of the advert is in the Guardian - http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2013/feb/16/broadband-choices-tv-ad

I wonder if S & S are perhaps getting a little behind the times, and don't realise that previously held images of woman as 'her indoors' are nowadays not, on the whole, accepted by the general public?

It would be a shame if such a well known brand got itself so out of touch!
