Vodafone has announced that it is set to launch its 4G in London on 29 August, before rolling out to 12 other cities by the end of the year.

The announcement comes shortly after O2 revealed that it would launch 4G in London at the end of the month.

Vodafone has invested £900m in the 4G network; and will roll out the service to cities such as Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield before 2014.

Three has also said that it will launch 4G later this year.

However, recent Ofcom research suggested that 22 per cent of Brits had ‘no intention’ of signing up to 4G services, because they were unsure of the benefits.
