David Beckham and Sir Alex Ferguson feature in Beano 75th anniversary issue
David Beckham and Sir Alex Ferguson are set to appear in the Beano this week, as the 75th anniversary issue goes on sale on Wednesday.
The comic will see Dennis the Menace help Beckham to find a house in Beanotown – only to discover it is next door to Sir Alex Ferguson’s house, and that the latter is not happy with his new neighbour.
The Beano editor-in-chief Mike Stirling said: “David Beckham features quite a lot in the anniversary issue and I think that the strip with David Beckham and Sir Alex Ferguson is brilliant. Dennis is up to his usual menacing and the results are hilarious. It pokes fun at their history in a light hearted way and of course, it’s all meant in jest.
“We listen to what our readers say and feature people that they want to read about. I think that the anniversary issue is possibly the most celeb-packed issue we have ever produced! 75 years of The Beano is a landmark worth celebrating and we hope that it appeals to readers of all ages.”
Other celebrities appearing in the issue include Holly Willoughby, Harry Hill, Bruce Forsyth and One Direction.
