Waitrose appoints Rupert Ellwood head of marketing

Rupert Ellwood has been named head of marketing at Waitrose, taking over from Sarah Fuller, who has left the company, and moving from his current role of head of retail operations for Waitrose shops in the south-east next month.

The new postition will involve developing the Waitrose brand and marketing communications strategy, covering advertising campaigns, customer publications and customer events.

Ellwoood will report to marketing director Rupert Thomas, who said: "Rupert has a proven track record, having played an important role in growing our business overseas.

"He brings with him a wealth of experience across a range of sectors and business areas, which will be invaluable in continuing to drive our marketing strategy."

Ellwood joined Waitrose in 2010, bringing experience from his time at Wineworld PLC (Vinopolis) as managing director.
