The Drum has been named business magazine of the year at the UK's most prestigious publishing awards.

Our team collected the accolade at last night's PPA Awards in London, the highest possible recognition in the magazine industry.

Out of 600 entries from nearly 100 of the UK's finest magazine companies, The Drum took home one of just 23 awards handed out on the night.

Judges praised The Drum for its ‘audacity’ and ‘innovation’ and for ‘providing a level of excitement rarely seen in [its] sector’.

Gordon Young, editor of The Drum, said: “As many have been cutting back, The Drum has continued to invest over the last three years and now has more journalists on its team than ever before.

“It is great to see this strategy pay off and it really does demonstrate that content is king.”

From its base in Glasgow, The Drum has grown from a small Scottish magazine into a global operation, with 19 per cent of its web traffic now coming from the US. In recent times we have opened an office in London and brought in staff to cover the US and Asia markets.

Almost 1,000 members of the magazine industry were present at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London last night to see the trophies handed out.
