Netflix is to continue its global expansion drive by introducing its film streaming service to the Netherlands later in the year.

The US firm is keen to further expand its presence in Europe with this being its seventh territory on the continent, the first in a more cautious roll-out programme after earlier breakneck expansion racked up losses.

Initially Netflix launched in the UK, Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland in 2012 but has not yet added to this cohort at all this year.

Netflix expects to report a profit of $149m from its US operations in the second quarter, but write off $81m in losses from its International operations.

These figures were drawn from 29.2m paying US subscribers and 7.1m international users.
