Spotify has launched a campaign to coincide with the 60th anniversary of Cannes Lions, celebrating the people who have helped shape creativity over the past 60 years.

Developed by Droga5 New York, the #60Inspirations initiative launched today, 11 June, and has seen Spotify ask 10 heavyweights of the creative industry to share the stories behind six songs that have inspired them.

The Spotify playlist can be downloaded along with the commentary, with the likes of Arianna Huffington, Maurice Lévy, chairman and CEO, Publicis Groupe, Wendy Clark, SVP integrated marketing at Coca-Cola and Bob Greenberg, founder, chairman and CEO at R/GA all putting forward their favourite songs for inspiring creativity.

Others to have been included are: Shelly Lazarus, chairman emeritus, Ogilvy & Mather; John Legend, Grammy award-winning musician; Steve Stoute, CEO at Translation; John Boiler, founder and CEO, 72andSunny; and David Lubars, chief creative officer at BBDO.

And, of course, David Droga, founder and creative chairman at Droga5, has also offered his inspirational playlist.

Droga’s songs included his “go to New York Song”, The Sugarhill Gang ‘Rapper’s Delight; Queen and David Bowie hit ‘Under Pressure’; and Radiohead’s ‘Paranoid Android’, saying “originality doesn’t have a rearview mirror”.

Other campaign activity includes OOH placements, social activations and a dedicated website.
