A group of 10 independent agencies from the National Association of Press Agencies (Napa) have launched a £500,000 claim against a Croatian website for alleged breach of copyright.

Claim: The 10 agencies are members of Napa

The unnamed website allegedly refused to pay for photographs mainly taken from the Mail Online, reports the Press Gazette.

If a settlement isn't agreed between the parties within the next month the case will go to court in Germany.

A Napa spokesman said it was hoped that the case would show how difficult it was for parties to obtain payment in breach of copyright cases in the European Union and said the case had taken 18 months to put together.
