EE has confirmed the European launch of Facebook Home has been delayed after taking on board customer feedback about the product.

Delay: The new product has struggled in the US

Facebook's Home software - which runs on HTC smartphone devices - has struggled to take off in the US on HTC's 'First' handset and was dropped by the country's biggest mobile network, AT&T, after heavy discounts.

A Facebook statement indicated the software had been poorly received by users: "While many people love it, we've heard a lot of great feedback about how to make Home substantially better.

"As a result we're focusing the next few months on adding customisation features that address the feedback we received.

"While we focus on making Home better, we are going to limit supporting new devices and think it makes a lot of sense for EE and Orange to hold off deploying the HTC First in Europe."

The news follows the release of a survey which indicated Facebook popularity was dwindling as users tired of advertising and marketing activity on the social network.
