IKEA launches garden marketing campaign with personalised weather forecasts for customers

IKEA is launching a direct and digital marketing campaign to promote its outdoor range by encouraging IKEA Family loyalty customers to make the most of their garden.

Created by LIDA, the campaign kicks off with personalised mailings at the bank holiday weekend giving 900,000 customer their local weather forecast.

The agency has also created an online invite system, where IKEA Family members can produce a fun, bespoke weather reports with the help of its weatherman, Harry Caine, to encourage friends and family to visit and make the most of their gardens this summer.

Markus Weichselbaumer, relationship marketing manager UK & Ireland said: “British weather can be unpredictable during the summer months and this clever IKEA Family campaign is designed to make people think differently about their outdoor space, whatever the weather.

LIDA executive creative director Nicky Bullard added: "We've had fun personalising with possibly the most unpredictable variable of all – the British weather. When the sun comes out, our personalised weather forecasts are sent out, along with all the inspiration you need to really enjoy your outdoor space.

The range will also include an online planner took which can be shared on social media channels.
