CMYK Design has taken over award-winning magazine Scotland Outdoors from Peebles-based Big Bend Publishing.

Takeover: CMYK says it will "go the extra mile" with the magazine

It's the first time the company - which publishes travel and leisure magazine, aurora, and professional titles in the medical, legal and public sectors - has moved into the consumer market.

CMYK owner Neil Braidwood commented: "We intend to expand distribution, bringing the magazine to a new, wider audience. Owning the title takes our involvement to a new level and we will invest the time and resources needed to build on its remarkable success.

"We’ll go the extra mile to make our magazine even more beautiful, exciting and inspirational – just like Scotland’s landscape."

The quarterly-published magazine has a current circulation of 6,000 and won the best small publishing company magazine at the Scottish PPA magazine awards in 2009 and 2010.

The acquisition includes the magazine's associated website, scotoutdoors.com, and founder of the magazine, Richard Rowe, who will continue in a consultant role, believes it is in safe hands: "Experienced publishers as well as accomplished designers, they know this magazine inside out and are the perfect people to take it forward."
