Gerard Doyle, CEO of the UK-based online voucher and daily deal site, DiscountVouchers.co.uk, has announced his departure from the company.

Doyle has been credited with repositioning DiscountVouchers.co.uk as both a traditional couponing and daily deal website, making it a direct competitor of key companies including Groupon and LivingSocial.

Brisbane-born Doyle has said he plans to return to Australia to set up a similar business with the backing of Doug Scott, founder of DiscountVouchers.co.uk.

Gareth Robinson, director at ASAP Ventures, the company behind DiscountVouchers.co.uk and Carrentals.co.uk, has been confirmed as the replacement for Doyle.

Robinson has been involved in ASAP Ventures for over ten years, and has been managing director at Carrentals.co.uk since January 2011.

Gerard Doyle, former CEO of DiscountVouchers.co.uk, commented: “Having firmly established DiscountVouchers.co.uk as the market leader, I’m looking forward to working on a new venture back in Australia. Of course I’m sad to leave the team at DiscountVouchers.co.uk, but I’m also very excited to be moving home with my family to start a new chapter in my life.”

Robinson said of his appointment: “I’m delighted to take over the reins at DiscountVouchers.co.uk. The company has seen huge growth over the last year and we have some exciting plans in place for further development in 2013.”

Doug Scott, founder of DiscountVouchers.co.uk, added: “Gerard has been a huge asset to DiscountVouchers.co.uk, pushing the business forward and building a strong team. We’re in a good position and I’m confident that with Gareth’s leadership, we will continue to grow. I’m delighted that Gerard and I will continue to work together on a new project in Australia. Just watch this space!”
