Hawaii Five-O broadcaster CBS asked viewers to help decide ‘whodunnit’ in its latest episode, with viewers having the chance to vote on who they wanted to be the murderer: the boss, the teaching assistant or the student.

Viewers were able to use Twitter to vote for their suspect of choice, using hashtags #theBoss, #theTA or #theStudent, although there was also the opportunity to vote on the CBS website.

The first time this has been done on prime-time TV, the show follows the team looking into the murder of a teacher, with his boss, assistant and a disgruntled student being the three choices of murderer: and the murderer changing from the east Coast to West Coast version of the show, based on votes.

Three endings were filmed, with clues laid throughout the show for all three suspects.

The East Coast voted for the boss to be the murderer, while the West Coast chose the student.
