STV has been awarded two local TV licences for the central belt of Scotland by Ofcom.

The two licenses will see STV provide local TV services for Glasgow and Edinburgh through digital terrestrial channels and will be known as Glasgow TV and Edinburgh TV.

The licences will run for up to 12 years each with Ofcom having now awarded 13 licenses across the UK of the 21 available, with some potentially ready to go live before the end of the year.

STV will run the services in partnership with Glasgow Caledonian University and Edinburgh Napier University.
