2Day FM has announced that it plans to donate all of its advertising profits to the family of the nurse at King Edward VII hospital who took her life two days after having taken a park phone call from two of the station’s presenters.

The Sydney-based radio station has issued a statement promising to donate ‘a minimum contribution’ of $500,000 to the family of Jacintha Saldanha, who transferred the prank call from Mel Greig and Michael Christian pretending to be the Queen and Prince Phillip.

The call ended up revealing personal information about the condition of the Duchess of Cambridge, who was staying at the hospital for treatment for severe morning sickness.

"We hope that by contributing to a memorial fund we can help to provide the Saldanha family with the support they need at this very difficult time," said Southern Cross Austereo chief executive Rhys Holleran.

Earlier this week, Greig and Christian took two television interviews in which they apologised for the call and stated their regrets over the incident and their sympathy for Saldanha’s family.
