Global marketing and technology agency LBi has launched an interactive music-mapping initiative to raise awareness and drive use of n0tice.com, the Guardian Media Group’s online community platform.

To capture people’s passion for live music, LBi and n0tice have launched an interactive gig-mapping tool on the Guardian’s music blog pages, showing fans’ tweeted reviews, Instagram photos and n0tice posts on an interactive map. Once location is enabled, users simply tag their reports with #gdngig and stories are instantly pinned to a live map of gigs across the UK and beyond.

LBi built the live-music mapping tool, devised the campaign creative, and also developed the online advertising supporting the campaign.

Bands and artists can also list their gigs on n0tice and venues can post the live music events that they are hosting. Developers can also reuse the Guardian live gig map code or tap into the n0tice APIs directly.

n0tice.com began as a Guardian hack day project in 2009. Incubated by Guardian Media Group, under director of digital strategy Matt McAlister’s leadership, n0tice is a digital community noticeboard which aims to help people make good things happen in their neighbourhood.

Matt McAlister, founder of n0tice.com said: “n0tice is a unique project because it uses the power of social media to give a voice to people, events and news in a hyper-local context. With the live music mapping tool, LBi has again provided us with some great thinking around what can be achieved with the n0tice platform.”

Building on LBi’s #highstreet and #keepcycling initiatives, this is the third big drive to show the power and potential of the n0tice platform. A fourth initiative, to celebrate great local shops, will launch in time for Christmas.
