The Prince of Wales has begun the process of recruiting a new PR chief following the departure of his long standing communications secretary, Paddy Harverson, to form his own communications company.

Harverson has acted as one of the Prince’s most trusted courtiers for the past eight years and is perhaps best known for acting as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s official spokesman at last year’s wedding, a role which earned him the title of PR Professional of the Year.

The PR guru has also tackled the thorny wicket of managing Prince Harry’s public persona, notably in drafting media strategies for the third in line to the thrones two tours of Afghanistan.

Harverson, former head of communications at Manchester United, has also been instrumental in dragging Clarence House into the digital age, setting up official Twitter and YouTube accounts for the family.

It is thought that the Prince may look to the private sector for a replacement for the six figure post to find someone of sufficient calibre to guide the decision making of the Royal Family.

Harverson is teaming up with Google’s communications director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa for his new venture.
