Dave Lee Travis, the former presenter of Top of the Pops, has been arrested today on suspicion of sexual offences, as part of the probe following allegations against Jimmy Savile.

While a police spokesperson would only confirm that it was a man in his 60s who was arrested, neighbours confirmed to the Telegraph that the DJ was being held by the police.

There is no suggestion that Travis was involved in paedophilia, but two women have claimed the presenter groped them in the 70s and 80s.

Last month, when the allegations were first made, Travis said “I categorically deny that there is any substance in either allegation and I’m genuinely surprised that allegations of this nature have been made. I totally refute any impropriety.”
