Barack Obama has snubbed Google+, the nascent social media platform, choosing instead to propagate his celebratory messages across Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

On Twitter Obama broke the record for the most re-tweeted message ever ‘four more years’ whilst a ‘thank you’ note alongside a confetti laden snap posted on Instagram (and criss posted to Facebook0 drew in three and one million likes respectively.

Google + users intrigued as to what the newly elected President had to say for himself were left disappointed however with the last post saying ‘it’s time to go vote!’.

Obama currently has 2.3m Google+ followers, far fewer than the 23m on Twitter.

His presidential challenger Mitt Romney has kept a low profile on both Twitter and Google+ since the election, limiting his activity to a simple ‘Thank you’ and cover photo on his Facebook page.
