BBC radio presenter Danny Baker has described his bosses as ‘pinhead weasels’ on Twitter following the axing of his BBC London radio programme.

Baker made the announcement of the scrapping of his afternoon programme yesterday, describing the decision as “a dirty rotten shame” and added that no one phoned him to tell him.

On Twitter, Baker said: “"BBC asked me not to say anything just yet about axing best show on British radio. Why? Because it's embarrassing? Because they'll look bad?"

He later tweeted: “Being LEAST necessary people to shows they've created a culture whereby they are the MOST vital. Far more meeting rooms than studios at BBC.”

The axing of the programme comes as the station aims to cut its budget by 16 per cent.

The show is expected to run until the end of the year with his Saturday morning national programme expected to continue on Radio Five Live.
