The Kilmarnock Standard, part of the Trinity Mirror Group, has relaunched today, 13 September, with a new design. However getting it to the newsstands has not gone entirely to plan.

The Kilmarnock Standard can usually be found on newsstands from Wednesday evening, however the production was held up meaning the relaunched paper wasn't available until today.

The paper’s new look has aimed to be brighter and bolder than the previous Kilmarnock Standard issues with a new front page layout.

In addition to the local news features and sports coverage, a new section, entitled The Ticket, has been introduced, giving previews and reviews of entertainment in the Kilmarnock area.

The refresh of the Kilmarnock Standard has come as part of Trinity Mirror's plans to rejuvenate a number of its national and regional titles, which include Daily Mirror, Sunday Mail, and Daily Record.

Speaking to The Drum on the relaunch and the Kilmarnock Standard’s ‘hiccup’, Rupert Smith, head of communications at Trinity Mirror commented: "We're delighted to be in the middle of the biggest relaunch in the history of Scottish local newspapers with new designs complementing great local content. As in any operation of this scale there's going to be a few bumps on the road. Magnificent effort from our team."

"So far we have successfully relaunched the Paisley Daily Express, Stirling Observer, Perthshire Advertiser, Lennox Herald, Strathearn Herald and Blairgowrie Advertiser. Seeing the benefits with double digit circulation and advertising growth in the PDE."
