The UK Government’s PR & marketing budget is set to increase to £285m next year, the Cabinet Office has revealed.

According to the BBC, the budget for the now defunct Central Office of Information was £168m in its final year, closed due to cost cutting amidst austerity budget cuts.

The increase in budget is apparently due to the need to promote changes being made to the NHS and other public policies.

A Cabinet Office spokeswoman told the BBC that the coalition was "determined to ensure spend never returns to anything like the highest levels seen before."
