Google has hired its first employee in Scotland, with Zoë Pearson joining from The Gate Worldwide in Edinburgh.

Pearson, who was senior copywriter for The Gate Worldwide, as well as Scottish Correspondent for Shortlist Media, has taken the role of community manager at Google and will be based in Scotland’s capital.

Community managers work through Google + to oversee specific areas and encourage engagement with the site’s user base.

The search giant, which already has offices in London and Manchester, would not comment when asked by The Drum whether it planned to open an office in Scotland, stating that it did not comment on staff matters.
