Zappar has today announced the launch of Zaphat, which creates animated 3D masks on the face of the wearer, at fashion and apparel event MAGIC Marketplace in Las Vegas.

Users are able to purchase a Zaphat from selected stores, and when worn, a friend who has Zappar downloaded can point their phone on tablet at the wearer into order to see an animated mask, from a cartoon character to a monster.

Zaphats will go on sale in the UK in time for the Christmas period.

Caspar Thykier, managing director of Zappar, said: “The Zaphat is a new and entertaining way for consumers to Zap themselves with wearable technology – linking your real and digital worlds through an augmented reality app. We’re taking the oldest form of dress up through masks and re-inventing them for the digital world when linked to the wardrobe staple of beanies. Just add a little Zappar Magic to your everyday.”
