British film director Tony Scott, who committed suicide on Sunday aged 68, after being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, made countless films and TV commercials - and his last work , an action-packed commercial for Diet Mountain Dew, is as good as it gets

Scott first made his mark in Hollywood with films . He directed action-packed films like “Top Gun” and “Unstoppable,” after starting to make TV commercials in partnership with his older brother, Ridley Scott.

Tony died after jumping from the Vincent Thomas Bridge in the Los Angeles Harbor. He was 68 years old.

“We know that he jumped from the bridge, 200 feet in height,” an official said . “Several people witnessed him jump.”

His death was first reported at 12:47 p.m. on Sunday, though his body was not recovered until hours later. A suicide note was found in his office in Los Angeles, and a note was found in his Prius car, with names and contacts.

He was said to have spoken recently with Tom Cruise about a developing a sequel to “Top Gun,” a drama about fighter-jet pilots that became a worldwide hit after its release in 1986.

He and his brother were working on a film adaptation of Bill O’Reilly’s book “Killing Lincoln,” set to be released next year.

Tom Cruise said: “Tony was my dear friend and I will really miss him. He was a creative visionary whose mark on film is immeasurable.”

Scott had directed hundreds of ads—many of them award winners—through RSA Films, the commercial production company operated by himself and his brother Ridley Scott. .

The final spot, via BBDO, for Diet Mountain Dew, was released earlier this month.
