As the Olympics drew to an almighty close on Sunday night a rather big gap has been left on the books of global marketing communications agency, McCann Worldwide, who handled the PR for the London 2012 Games.

In a tongue-in-cheek ad published in today’s UK Daily Telegraph and Times newspapers McCann has declared: “We’re proud to announce we’ve just lost a client,” not usually something an agency chooses to shout about.

In the accompanying copy the agency adds: “After four years dedicated to delivering a successful London 2012, our work here is done.”

It then appeals for new business, stating: “It’s an exciting moment, because we now have an Olympic-sized gap in our roster. We’re hoping to fill it with brands that want to perform faster, higher, stronger.”

Before jokily signing off: “And with clients that don’t wear quite so much Lycra.”
