The world’s fastest sprinter, Jamaica’s Usain Bolt, has repeated his speedy ways in the micro-blogging sphere after Twitter revealed that the star had smashed its previous Olympic Games conversation record.

Bolt picked up an impressive 80,000 tweets per minute to attain the feat following last nights victory in the 200m race as fans rushed to congratulate the runner on his achievement.

In his most recent tweet Bolt claimed divine powers had favoured him over his competitors in the race, tweeting: “I want to thank GOD for everything he as done for me cause without him none of this wouldn't be possible.”

One wag, John Baker, observed however: “Too bad the East Coast of the US won't see it for another 5 hours. #NBCfail Mega props to @usainbolt!”
