Norway has revealed that it will launch a full investigation into Facebook’s facial recognition feature later this year, with the belief from the Norwegian Data Protection Agency that the system could breach privacy rights.

The feature suggests people’s names to tag in pictures posted to the site, and the investigation will look into how the facial recognition feature works, as well as how Facebook stores data on IMs sent between users.

The European Union has ruled that the system can only be used with people’s consent.
