Manchester Utd named most valuable sports brand by Forbes magazine

Manchester United, no stranger to success on the pitch, have been named the most successful club off the pitch as well – according to a survey conducted by Forbes magazine.

The business title placed the Mancunian red shirts at the very top of its table with a valuation of £1.43bn, more than global sporting titans such as Real Madrid and the New York Yankee’s who came in 2nd and 3rd respectively with £1.2bn and £1.1bn (tied with the Dallas Cowboys.

Fellow Premier League outfit Arenal just managed to scrape into the bottom of the top 10 with a balance of £825m, just below Barcelona who were valued at £837m.

Otherwise the list was dominated by American football and major League baseball teams, many of which are unheard of outside of the States.

1. Manchester United – £1.43 billion

2. Real Madrid – £1.2 billion

3. New York Yankees – £1.1 billion

3. Dallas Cowboys – £1.1 billion

5. Washington Redskins – £997 million

6. Los Angeles Dodgers – £895 million

6. New England Patriots – £895 million

8. Barcelona – £837 million

9. New York Giants – £831 million

10. Arsenal – £825 million.
