The Professional Footballers' Association, the trade union for professional footballers in England and Wales, has launched its new website created by Rippleffect.

The PFA's 4,000 current members and 25,000 retired players will be able to use the site to access advice and contacts relating to the issues that affect them on and off the pitch.

Built using the Sitecore content management system, thepfa.com contains information about educational grants, coaching qualifications, rehabilitation facilities, the transfer list, player management and offers from PFA business partners.

Gordon Taylor, chief executive of the PFA, said: "We required a website that would better showcase the range of content we offer and make it easier for members to find the information they need wherever they are in the world and whatever device they are using."

Taylor said Liverpool-based Rippleffect had been appointed to the task because of its experience in the sports industry and with other trade unions.

The digital agency's clients include Arsenal, Everton and Wigan Athletic football clubs, the British Horseracing Association, Northern Racing and Ski Club of Great Britain.

"The designs and concepts put forward have helped scope the project beyond a website and will allow us to interact with the membership on a new level, which will hopefully result in a further improved service to our members," Taylor said.

Ben Hatton, managing director of Rippleffect, added: "The PFA is one of the most important and well-respected organisations in football, having successfully campaigned for a number of landmark rule changes since its formation in 1907 and continued work in supporting its members at all levels of the professional game.

"As well as being a high profile project that everyone at Rippleffect was proud to be a part of, the PFA represents another great addition to our existing sports portfolio."
