The Yes campaign for Scottish independence was launched today at an event in Edinburgh.

The Yes Scotland campaigners, led by First Minister Alex Salmond, said they would stage the "biggest community-based camapign in Scotland's history" in the the run-up to the independence referendum in autumn 2014.

Edinburgh-based Cor Agency is working on the campaign including today's launch.

The campaign has the backing of celebrities including Sir Sean Connery, poet Liz Lochead and musician Pat Kane.

Pro-Yes Scots are being encouraged to sign a declaration at www.yesscotland.net.

Salmond said: "We unite behind a declaration of self-evident truth.

"The people who live in Scotland are best placed to make the decisions that affect Scotland."

A pro-union campaign is expected to launch later this year.
