The ‘Out4marriage' campaign developed by PinkNews.co.uk and Remarkable Group for the Coalition for Equal Marriage has continued with a video by Theresa May.

Commissioned by the Coalition for Equal Marriage, which is urging equality for same-sex couples, the campaign has also featured videos from Richard Branson, Yvette Cooper MP and girl-band The Saturdays.

Mike Buonaiuto, head of video production, said: "We have been thrilled to secure the backing of such a diverse and high profile list of key figures, including Sir Richard and The Saturdays, who have the star quality to pull in even more support and grab the attention of policy-makers.”

The first video "Homecoming" was to launch the campaign and raise awareness, and the second - under the tag "Out4Marriage" - urged viewers to send in their own one-minute clips to be added to an online library of people explaining why they are "out for marriage".

Stephen Pomeroy, Remarkable Group chief executive, said: "The speed at which this campaign took off shows the power of social media in reaching all corners of society, from ordinary members of the public through to A-list pop stars, business leaders and politicians.

"The success stems from the incredibly thoughtful direction of Remarkable's film, and the smart way in which the public and celebrity responses have been deployed to push its arguments into the spotlight.

"Gathering such eye-catching personal testimonies was key, giving the campaign its fuel to progress, and is an excellent example of how to harness the combined power of social media, lobbying websites, online films and word of mouth."
