Publisher Hachette UK has appointed The BIO Agency to create an online strategy.

The agency has been asked to create a digital framework for the group to ensure its websites reflect the company, imprint, brand or author it represents.

Chris Emerson, chief operating officer at Hachette UK, said: “We are a large, federal group and our websites need to reflect the diversity of our companies. The way we publish and sell books is changing radically. We were looking for an agency who would break new ground for us, giving us a web architecture that would keep pace with advances in technology and be flexible enough to support a variety of sites with a multitude of requirements, offering a great experience for consumers and giving us all the tools we need to capture data and interact with our customers. We found the right partner in BIO.”

Peter Veash, managing director of The BIO Agency, added: “We are delighted to be working with Hachette. They recognise the need to provide a real connection online with the vast audience for their books and authors. The new sites won’t be like anything else seen for this sector.”
