‘Margaret Thatcher’ stars in Taiwanese ad for air conditioners

A Margaret Thatcher ‘lookalike’ is the star of a new ad in Taiwan to promote air conditioning units.

Played by male comedian Shu Jyai-wei, known for his parodies, Thatcher is seen promoting Panasonic, while a King from ancient China prefers Daikin and TaiwaneseTV show host Sisy Chen chooses Hitachi.

The ad, for computer and appliances store 3C, has gone viral since it was released, with one commenter on YouTube saying ‘Hey, she doesn't sound like a grocer's daughter from Grantham. Wait. Neither did Maggie’.

''For the record, Asa at HuffPo and Roy Greenslade at Guardian and The Drum in UK got this news tip and video link and explanation in the mail from unsung ace gumshoe TV reporter and media anlysts Danny Bloom in Tawian who broke this story worldwide.'' CREDIT? SOURCE? ATTRIBUTION? Do these things no longer exist? And I do all this for free, from my good heart! SMILE, google my blog SAY IT IN 17 WORDS to see how this story started off. Hello! My name is Monica Chiu, I am Mr. Shu Jyai-hwei's friend. He asked me to write this letter to you to thank you for sharing your report to your Europe readers and us. We are very happy to know that we have Europe audiences now.

About this 3C store --TSANN KUEN's advertisement, the most interested part is, the three roles -- The Iron Lady, Sisy Chen, and the ancient Chinese King, were all played by Mr Shu Jyai-hwei himself. He is so famous and popular by his lookalike acts in Taiwan. In this commercial, he played three very different roles at the same time.
