Shopper marketing specialists MARS\Y&R has announced that it has appointed Matt Barnett, a former digital consultant to Stanley Black & Decker, as head of digital.

Darren Keen, MARS\Y&R managing director comments: “My ambition is for us to be the very best digital shopper marketing agency in Europe. Digital is quite clearly not a separate path-to-purchase but an additional way for brands and retailers to engage with and influence consumers and shoppers.

“In the year leading up to our official UK launch, we’ve worked hard focusing on defining the MARS\Y&R DNA. At our core sits focused sector knowledge, brilliant client service and heart-pumping creative. These attributes will also run through the digital offering that Matt has been tasked to define, build and integrate within the business.

Keen concludes: “This is a landmark appointment for the agency and after undertaking a really focused recruitment process we know that in Matt we have secured the right person for the job. His credentials speak for themselves and just as importantly he has the mindset and cultural approach that make him a MARS\Y&R person through and through.”

Barnett’s CV includes stints at FullSIX, OgilvyOne and Haygarth for accounts such as Hertz, Reckitt Benckiser, Unilever, majestic Wines and Merck.
