Social enterprise network Yammer has chosen London over New York as the location for its first developer centre outside of the US.

It was announced yesterday by Kulveer Ranger, the London Mayor’s director of environment and London Digital, at the Digital London Conference, that Yammer would open the centre in Shoreditch, which was competing with New York.

“Yammer is a fantastic business tool and they have announced that they have decided to base the centre here in London, that’s a big feather in our cap and shows where London is,” commented Ranger.

Ranger also revealed that Virgin Media had won the contract to provide free WI-FI services across 80 stations in the London Underground ahead of this year’s Olympics in the city.
