The Economist has released its ‘World in Figures’ book as an iPad app, allowing users access to essential statics and data from across 190 countries.

The app covers a range of topics from tourism, commodities, transportation to human rights, while this year’s publication includes new data categories such as Facebook users, migration, parliamentary seats, charitable giving, happy planet index and universities.

The app allows users to view data through a 3D globe that allows the user to select the country or region they wish to focus on. They are also able to access the country’s profile individually or compare information on countries.

A trivia feature has also been included to test the knowledge of users. Facts can then be shared through a social sharing function.

Grant Thornton has sponsored the app, which is free to download through iTunes.
