Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO has been named best media workplace in the annual Sunday Times survey of the top 100 companies to work for.

The ad agency ranks 17th overall in The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For list, which is published as an 80-page supplement this weekend.

The next closest media and marketing companies were MEC UK (ranked 21), Iris (30) and Bartle Bogle Hegarty (34).

The annual Sunday Times list is the most comprehensive survey of workplace opinion in Britain.

It is compiled from results given by employees to 70 questions related to workplace culture, covering their company’s leadership; their personal wellbeing; career development; pay and benefits; their feelings towards colleagues, managers and the company as a whole; and giving something back to the community and environment.

Jonathan Austin, chief executive and founder of Best Companies, which conducted the research for The Sunday Times, said: “These awards highlight the achievements of organisations with good leadership and management which result in high levels of workplace engagement – factors that are even more important in these difficult economic times.

"You can actually build staff engagement in times like these and the 325 organisations that make this year’s lists prove that."
