Costcutter has appointed Simon Brown as PR and communications manager.

Brown, who joins from Ptarmigan Bell Pottinger, has been tasked with developing and managing trade and consumer communications programmes to increase the profile of Costcutter Supermarkets Group’s key brands: Costcutter, myCostcutter and Kwik Save.

He said: “It is a very exciting time to be joining Costcutter Supermarkets Group with the immanent unveiling of the first Kwik Save and myCostcutter stores, and the revised Costcutter format. Costcutter is a brand that I have grown up with and is firmly rooted within the communities it serves, providing excellent local value.

“The communications challenge is to harness this brand equity and engage with consumers and retailers via traditional and digital communication platforms, reinforcing our core brand values and underlining our Proud to be Local position.”

Ian Bishop, Costcutter marketing director, said: “I am delighted that Simon has joined Costcutter. The convenience retail market is extremely competitive and the introduction of a three-fascia strategy positions Costcutter as the principal symbol group. Therefore it is crucial that we have a team of marketing and communications experts to deliver our objectives, and with Simon’s appointment we have added considerable expertise to the business.”
