Former Robson Brown boss Andrew Marwick has joined sales promotion company Opia as managing director.

Marwick was MD at Newcastle ad agency Robson Brown during its turbulent ownership by US-based company Round 2 last year.

Robson Brown went into administration in December 2010 but Marwick was retained as managing director when it was bought by ThinkBDW at the beginning of this year. He left in September to "pursue other interests".

On his new role at Gateshead-based Opia, Marwick said: "Whilst brand marketing remains hugely important, the current economy has meant consumers are not only making informed choices but value is a key driver and more often than not the tipping point in purchase decision. Seeking out value will be a theme in society for many years to come. Opia enables brands to win market share through strong headline value offers - a valuable component for today’s intensely competitive marketplace."

Opia has also acquired an in-house digital support and production team.
