Last week saw Channel 4 release its Comedy Blaps website which aims to act as a platform for emerging comedy talent.

The site, developed by Leeds-based digital agency Numiko, will highlight new comedy writers, directors, performers and animators, after the broadcaster received over 500 pitchers for online shorts that were submitted.

The site has gone live with four entries currently running.

Nimiko aimed to make the site intuitive and allow users the opportunity to explore videos through watching short previews, while use of Facebook, Google+ and Twitter will allow users to share content and offer their opinions.

Jody Smith, multiplatform commissioning editor, said; “New comedy can be a hard sell for audiences, so I wanted a site that was playful and an absolute joy to use so users feel compelled to discover more videos. It was also important to create a TV-like experience, with full-screen video that would really showcase the content.”
