The Write Angle has been appointed by Preston City Council to handle the PR for Preston Guild 2012.

Celebrated only once every 20 years, Guild 2012 will be the first since Preston became a city in 2002, and the team is aiming to attract almost one million visitors to the events planned for the year.

The Chorley-based agency will work with the Guild team to promote the event, having already been responsible for launching the two-year countdown to Guild 2012 in September 2010, with assistance from Andrew ‘Freddie’ Fintoff, Nick Park and Wallace and Gromit.

The agency will also be responsible for unveiling the programme of events, which has so far been kept a secret.

Angela Smith, managing director at The Write Angle, said: “We are thrilled to have won this contract. To be involved with such a prestigious event is an honour and it’s something the whole team here is very passionate about.

“There has been a lot of anticipation around Preston Guild 2012 and we can’t wait to showcase the great city of Preston to a regional, national and international audience.”

Councillor Peter Rankin, Leader of Preston City Council, added: “From day one The Write Angle showed an abundance of enthusiasm for Guild 2012 and we were bowled over by the team’s drive, energy, creativity and strong local knowledge. We are looking forward to working with the team to make next year’s Guild celebrations the most successful ever.”
