DMGT to merge Digital Property Group with Zoopla in challenge to Rightmove
The Daily Mail General Trust has announced that its consumer division A&N Media will merge the Digital Property Group with Zoopla.
The group, which includes FindaProperty.com and Primelocation.com, will be merged with venture capital company Zoopla, with A&N media retaining a 55% interest in the new entity.
The strategy behind the merger will aim to take on Rightmove, which currently dominate the online property sector, and hopes to create a viable alternative platform.
Martin Morgan, chief executive of DMGT said: "This merger will create a genuine opportunity to challenge the dominant market leader in the online property sector. We believe that the combination of our respective digital property assets will benefit both consumers and clients."
